Chiropractic Treatments & Services – Livonia, Michigan Chiropractor, Dr. Travis Dockery and Dr. Ryley Perryman

Diversified Technique

Diversified technique is a classic chiropractic technique that focuses on correcting subluxations (misalignments in the body) using various methods, often including repeated manual thrusts. This technique is very hands-on, firm, and deliberate; therefore, expect to hear popping sounds as alignments are made.

COX Flexion/Distraction Technique

Our adjusting table enables automated flexion-distraction. This low-impact adjustment keeps the upper spine stationary while the lower spine bends. This allows distraction and opens the spinal joints. This technique is especially effective for elderly patients and patients with acute disc injuries who cannot tolerate much pressure.

Hi-Lo Table

Hi-Lo Table

We understand that not all patients can quickly get on and off the table. Our Hi-Lo table features a platform that patients can stand on, which slowly lowers them into a face-down position. After the adjustment, the table will return to a standing position, helping patients back to their feet. This table is ideal for elderly patients and patients with severe back pain who would otherwise have difficulty getting on and off a table.

Thompson Technique

The Thompson technique uses your legs to adjust, particularly the patient’s lower back, spine, and pelvis. Chiropractors using the Thompson technique will first assess your leg length and determine whether leg-length discrepancies are causing stress on these critical areas. Then, alignments are performed at the identified location to alleviate pain and discomfort.

Gonstead Technique

Life In Motion Chiropractic uses the Gonstead technique to address the problem rather than provide short-term relief. The Gonstead approach offers a thorough analysis (typically of the spine) that relies on accurate adjustments and careful attention to technique.

SOT ( Sacro Occipital Technique)

The SOT technique focuses on the base of the spine, the “sacrum,” and the top of the spine, the “occiput.” This technique is known for its gentle manipulations, focusing on moving cerebrospinal fluid from the sacrum to the occiput. The premise behind SOT is that gentle manipulations can help identify misalignments in your body and sources of poor health, illnesses, or other disorders.

Instrument-Assisted Technique

Our office also employs an electronic adjusting instrument called ArthroStim. This is effective for patients who dislike the “popping” or manual pressure associated with many standard techniques. The instrument allows direct contact with the vertebrae we’re working with and can provide varying pressure levels. This powerful tool delivers 12-14 incremental thrusts per second, faster than a typical chiropractic thrust.

Our office serves adults and children. We’ve worked with patients as young as newborns and as old as nonagenarians (patients in their 90s). Many of our patients were brought in by their parents, who now bring their spouses, children, and other family members in for chiropractic adjustments.

X-rays

We have digital X-ray equipment right in his office. If you come in for an evaluation and we feel you need X-rays, there is no need to get referred out for them. We can review them and provide a report that day.

Intersegmental Traction Tables

We have three therapy tables at the office. If necessary, it’s a therapy that mobilizes the spine before or after the adjustment.

Therapeutic Exercises

There is no ‘one size fits all’ rehab exercise plan. Our staff is trained in the most evidence-based exercises designed for customized plans to address your condition. These are shown in the office, with patients accessing directions and videos for use at home. Visit our Rehab Library to see a few of the home exercises we commonly prescribe.

Laser Therapy

Our office utilizes a Class 4 LightCure Laser. This high-powered laser can penetrate deep into tissues, promoting cellular repair and offering pain relief.

The therapy works by reducing inflammation, releasing pain-relieving endorphins, and accelerating the repair of connective tissues such as ligaments, tendons, and muscles. The laser works through a process called photobiomodulation. This process allows light rays entering the body to interact with mitochondria and cellular processes, accelerating the body’s natural healing.

Myofascial Release

After adjusting the spine and ensuring each segment has appropriate motion, the doctor may also address the surrounding muscles. Soft tissue work is essential to accelerating the healing process by providing proper function.
