Life in Motion Chiropractic Β· Livonia, MI
Massage therapy that
goes beyond relaxation.
Our licensed massage therapists work directly alongside Dr. Dockery to treat the soft tissue component of your condition β not just your stress. Whether you need therapeutic relief or a reset from the week, we have you covered.
More than a massage β it’s part of your care plan
Most chiropractic offices refer out for massage. At Life in Motion, our licensed massage therapists work in the same building and communicate directly with Dr. Dockery. That means your soft tissue work is coordinated with your adjustments β addressing muscle tension, fascial restriction, and tissue adhesion that can otherwise limit how well your chiropractic care holds.
There is a strong body of clinical evidence supporting massage therapy for musculoskeletal complaints β including back pain, neck pain, headaches, and auto accident injuries. Our therapists bring a wide range of modalities to address both acute and chronic conditions, tailored to what your body actually needs that day.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply need a deliberate break from the week’s tension β our therapists are trained to meet you where you are.

“Massage accelerates what chiropractic starts β releasing the muscle tension that pulls your spine back out of alignment between visits.”

Why massage works better alongside chiropractic care
A chiropractic adjustment restores motion to restricted joints. But if the surrounding muscles remain tight and guarded, they’ll pull things back out of alignment faster. Massage addresses that soft tissue component β creating conditions where your adjustments hold longer and your recovery accelerates.
When your massage therapist and chiropractor are in the same building and talking about your case, your care is genuinely integrated β not just two separate appointments scheduled close together.

Massage therapy is clinically effective for a wide range of conditions
Research consistently supports massage therapy for musculoskeletal pain. Our therapists work with patients recovering from injury, managing chronic conditions, and maintaining overall wellbeing.

Common questions about massage therapy
Do I need to be a chiropractic patient to book a massage?
No. You can book massage therapy as a standalone appointment at Life in Motion. Many patients come specifically for massage and never see the chiropractor β and that’s completely fine. Our therapists are also happy to communicate with Dr. Dockery if you’d like your care coordinated.
How long are massage sessions?
Session lengths vary based on your needs and schedule. We offer 30, 60, and 90-minute appointments. For new patients with a specific condition, a 60-minute session is typically recommended to allow proper assessment and treatment time.
Is massage covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by plan. Massage therapy is often covered when it’s part of a medically documented treatment plan β which is an advantage of receiving massage in a chiropractic office where your condition is already on file. Auto accident injuries are frequently covered under auto insurance. Call us and we can help verify your benefits.
What should I expect at my first massage appointment?
Your therapist will briefly review your health history and the areas you want addressed before the session begins. You’ll be draped throughout β only the area being worked on is uncovered. After the session, your therapist may make recommendations for frequency and home care.
Can massage help with my auto accident injuries?
Yes β and it’s one of the most effective tools for soft tissue injury recovery after a collision. Whiplash, muscle strain, and fascial restriction respond very well to massage when combined with chiropractic care. Auto insurance typically covers massage as part of your accident treatment.
Do you offer prenatal massage?
Yes. Our therapists are trained in prenatal massage techniques that safely address the common discomforts of pregnancy β back pain, hip pain, leg tension, and general fatigue β using modified positioning and appropriate pressure for each trimester.
